Tottenham discuss shock move for Eddie Howe but Newcastle have a firm stance

2 hours ago 20

Tottenham Hotspur are considering a move for an English manager who has been in charge of his current club for more than four years.

Igor Tudor has been brought in to steady the ship for Tottenham Hotspur, but the Croat has only been handed a five-month contract by the North London club.

Reports indicate that Mauricio Pochettino and Roberto De Zerbi are Spurs’ two leading candidates for the permanent managerial role.

There have also been some suggestions over recent days that the Lilywhites could make a move for Enzo Maresca, and another new name has now been thrown into the mix.

Tottenham have added Eddie Howe to their list of managerial targets

According to TEAMtalk, Spurs have added Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe to the list of potential summer managerial targets.

The report claims that senior figures at the North London club are ‘increasingly intrigued’ by Howe’s body of work.

The outlet claims to have heard from sources that the Newcastle boss’s name has been “raised and discussed” at the boardroom level by Tottenham as they map out their summer strategy.

It is revealed that while Spurs are still in the early stages of their managerial search, Howe is viewed as a coach who fits their long-term strategy, given his progressive football and record of player development.

What is Newcastle’s stance on Howe’s future?

TEAMtalk say that Howe is also admired by Man United, and is one of several candidates the Red Devils are considering for the role.

However, despite a challenging campaign at St James’ Park, he ‘retains unwavering backing’ from Newcastle’s hierarchy.

While rival clubs are circling the former Bournemouth boss, the Magpies have given no indications that they would entertain an approach for the 48-year-old.
