Tottenham duo named in Premier League Team of the Week after Man City draw

Two Tottenham Hotspur players have made it into WhoScored’s Team of the Week, and it would not surprise Spurs fans to learn who that is.

Despite missing a full team of players and even though Thomas Frank was forced to hand Radu Dragusin his first start of the season and play Archie Gray at right wing-back, Tottenham salvaged a point against Manchester City.

The result was even more impressive considering that Cristian Romero was forced off at half-time due to illness, with the Spurs players showing tremendous character under the circumstances.

The result ensured that Tottenham did not drop any further towards the relegation zone and came as a much-needed boost to Thomas Frank, who continues to be under immense pressure.

Dominic Solanke and Xavi Simons shine for Tottenham

Xavi Simons has been getting better and better with each game over the last few weeks, and the 22-year-old produced what was arguably his best performance in a Tottenham shirt so far.

However, the limelight was stolen by Dominic Solanke, who netted a brace, with his scorpion kick for Tottenham’s second going down as one of the leading contenders for the goal of the season.

Unsurprisingly, both players have made it into WhoScored’s Team of the Week, with Xavi being handed a rating of 8.66 and Solanke 8.42.

Thomas Frank lavishes praise on Xavi and Solanke

The Tottenham head coach raved about both the attacking midfielder and the striker in his post-match press conference.

Frank likened Solanke’s importance to Spurs to Erling Haaland’s to Man City, admitting that the Lilywhites have desperately missed the England international.

Frank spoke glowingly of the fight that Xavi showed throughout the game, terming the Dutchman’s performance as ‘exceptional’.
