Tottenham eye second left-back after Souza as free agent could replace Destiny Udogie

Destiny Udogie has been kept out for much of the season due to injuries, and Tottenham Hotspur could look toward two replacements.

Tottenham Hotspur are suffering through yet another season of constant injuries, and Destiny Udogie is one of the players to have experienced a lot of issues.

The left-back has already been ruled out on three separate occasions this season due to problems with his knee and hamstring.

It seems Spurs are losing patience with Udogie, and have identified two transfer targets who could force him out of the club.

Tottenham have been looking at Luca Netz as well as Souza

Spurs have already agreed to sign Souza, a promising Brazilian left-back, after shaking hands on a €15m transfer fee with Santos.

However, the 19-year-old is just one piece of the puzzle, because Spurs are also actively pursuing Borussia Monchengladbach’s Luca Netz, who is set to become a free agent in the summer (TeamTalk).

Despite this, Tottenham have already held talks to sign Netz in January and are prepared to table a modest fee to complete a mid-season deal.

Udogie might still have a future at Spurs

There is still a possibility that Udogie will remain at Tottenham, even if Souza and Netz joined the club. This is because Ben Davies could depart in the summer, and Djed Spence may be played as an alternative to Pedro Porro on the right flank.

Thomas Frank would then be left with three left-back options, which means there is good depth in the Tottenham first-team squad, making it easier to deal with an injury crisis.
