Tottenham Hotspur have turned their attention to an experienced Premier League playmaker, but they are now facing competition from Aston Villa.
Regular readers of Spurs Web will be aware that a whole host of attacking midfielders have been linked with Tottenham since Eberechi Eze snubbed the Lilywhites in favour of a move to their local rivals.
It appears that Spurs may have to move on from Nico Paz, who has now allegedly rejected the North London club’s offer and decided to stay put at Como.
According to reports, Real Madrid played a big role in stopping Paz from going to Tottenham, who may now be set to raid their London rivals once again this summer.
Tottenham face competition for Lucas Paqueta
Spurs raided West Ham for Mohammed Kudus earlier this summer, and it emerged a couple of days ago that Tottenham could now try to secure Lucas Paqueta from the London Stadium.
Tottenham’s interest in the Brazil international has now been backed up The Daily Mail, who confirm that the 27-year-old is indeed on the radar of Thomas Frank’s side.
However, the outlet suggests Spurs may not have a free run at Paqueta, who is also attracting interest from European hopefuls Aston Villa.
The former Lyon man has now been cleared of the spot-fixing allegations that had hung over him for nearly a year.
Could Aston Villa’s interest in Paqueta be good news for Spurs?
It has been widely reported over the last few days that Tottenham may make an audacious late move for Villa star Morgan Rogers.
According to various sources, Spurs would have to pay well in excess of £80m to land Rogers, which would comfortably beat the North London club’s club-record transfer fee.
The fact that Villa are showing an interest in Paqueta may potentially offer Tottenham hope that the Midlands club could be open to cashing in on the England international if they receive a huge offer.
