Tottenham Hotspur are expected to revisit their search for a new wide forward in 2026, but Chelsea have now entered the picture for one of the players they admired just months ago.
Last summer, Tottenham Hotspur were intent on strengthening their wide areas and had several high-profile wingers on their shortlist.
Mohammed Kudus, Bryan Mbuemo, Antoine Semenyo and Savinho were all targets for the North London side, as Thomas Frank looked to add more firepower to his attack.
In the end, Tottenham secured the £55 million signing of Kudus, a move that has proven to be an inspired one given the Ghanaian’s impressive performances this term.
Semenyo, however, remained a player Spurs were fond of, though the Bournemouth winger later penned a new deal with the Cherries until 2030, effectively cooling Tottenham’s interest.
That extension appeared to settle the matter, but the Ghanaian’s continued rise this season has brought fresh attention his way.
Chelsea eye Tottenham target Antoine Semenyo
According to reports from Fichajes, Chelsea are understood to be preparing to make a move for Antoine Semenyo next summer – the same player Tottenham once had on their radar.
The 25-year-old has started the new campaign in superb form, scoring six goals and providing three assists so far, with only Erling Haaland finding the net more frequently.
Chelsea are said to be eager to inject more firepower into their frontline and are reportedly preparing a £77 million (€90 million) offer to secure his signature.
Tottenham are still keen on signing a wide player, with reports suggesting that the club could make a move for Savinho in January after their pursuit of the Brazil international stretched up until deadline day last summer.
However, with Savinho signing a new contract at the Etihad, it remains unclear if Spurs will reignite that chase.
Tottenham could spend more to land Antoine Semenyo
Tottenham could have landed Semenyo last summer, but Bournemouth’s £70 million valuation was considered excessive at the time.
That decision may now prove costly, as the winger’s outstanding form will only have driven his price higher, making any future move significantly more expensive.
Thomas Frank has yet to settle on a preferred option for the left wing this season, with Wilson Odobert, Mathys Tel, Xavi Simons and Brennan Johnson all being tried in that role.
Semenyo, meanwhile, continues to cause havoc on the left flank for Bournemouth, where his blend of pace and power has made him one of the Premier League’s standout performers.
If Tottenham were to revisit their interest in the Ghanaian forward, it would likely require a far greater outlay than it would have just a few months ago.
