Tottenham Hotspur appear to be edging closer to a deal with soon-to-be free agent Andy Robertson this summer, but Spurs supporters are not entirely convinced by the potential move.
It was revealed on Thursday that Robertson has decided to call time on his nearly decade-long stay at Anfield, with the full-back choosing not to renew his contract.
Tottenham, who had shown interest in the Liverpool man back in the summer, were quickly alerted, with subsequent reports stating that the Lilywhites were in pole position to sign Robertson.
The 32-year-old Scotland international, however, is not short of options, with five other teams keen on signing the soon-to-be free agent this summer.

Tottenham fans react to Spurs agreeing to an Andy Robertson deal
A fresh report from Fabrizio Romano now claims that Spurs have a verbal agreement to sign Andy Robertson in June 2026, with all terms understood to be in place.
However, he goes on to explain that nothing has been signed or sealed yet, as staying in the Premier League will be a key factor before proceeding.
Tottenham currently find themselves in the relegation places for the first time this campaign following West Ham’s victory over Wolves, although Spurs still have a game in hand.
Fans of the Lilywhites have now shared their reaction to the club’s latest pursuit of Robertson, and not many are pleased with the reports.
One supporter voiced concern over the nature of the potential deal, suggesting it may not align with the manager’s vision: “It’s a club signing, that’s what worries me most about this. What are the chances both Frank and De Zerbi really want him”
Another fan echoed that sentiment, claiming: “Clearly not a de zerbi signing… it’s a club signing… pathetic again” Frustration among the fanbase was also evident, with one supporter bluntly stating: “Fingers crossed we go down then”
One particularly unhappy fan criticised both the proposed contract and the player’s recent performance, adding: “£150,000 a week 2 year deal Worst player when we played them his error got us goal. Maybe he thought he was playing for Spurs already”
Elsewhere, some supporters reacted with dark humour, with one joking: “Relegation suddenly not looking so bad” Another took a similar stance, writing: “At least there’s one positive of getting relegated 👍🏼”The mood was further summed up by one fan who said: “We deserve relegation”
Finally, one supporter kept their stance clear and concise: “We dont want him”
Spurs Andy Robertson move raises questions over recruitment strategy
The decline of Tottenham in the last two seasons has been rather drastic, and many fans will agree that signings like these have left the club in its current position.
Robertson will bring experience to the club, but if the club are so desperate for such experience, then renewing Ben Davies’ contract seems the logical step.
Davies is just as old and, if he is departing north London, you would expect Tottenham to bring in a full-back who can challenge their current starters; however, going for Robertson to replace an older player seems counterproductive.
Given that Spurs have always been interested in Robertson, even before the appointment of De Zerbi, and are now moving for him regardless, further questions will arise over whether the Italian will have any say in the rebuilding of the club.
Regardless, Spurs must avoid relegation if they are even to give themselves the chance of attracting top talent.
