Tottenham fans call the board a ‘disgrace’ after latest worrying transfer rumour

Tottenham supporters have been left digesting fresh uncertainty around one of the club’s most important players, with renewed speculation over Cristian Romero’s future quickly sparking reaction online.

Cristian Romero was left frustrated by Tottenham Hotspur’s ‘disgraceful’ squad outlook during the January transfer window.

The club captain has watched the Spurs hierarchy once again leave the squad short, managing to secure only two signings – Conor Gallagher and Souza – during the winter window.

That offered barely enough support for a Tottenham side dealing with an injury crisis, with no recognised right-back fit and only Xavi Simons operating as the main number ten, while more than ten players remain sidelined.

Tottenham fans react to Cristian Romero transfer rumours

Romero has only recently put pen to paper on a new deal, but reports have now emerged suggesting the Spurs captain is set to leave Tottenham this summer following his recent dig at the club hierarchy.

Supporters are well aware of the latest claims and have taken to social media to offer their reaction.

Introducing the general mood among fans, one supporter wrote that it had been “a ride” under the Argentine, adding “Captain” in reference to Romero’s status.

While another Tottenham fan said: “I will believe it when I see it.” Others were more resigned, with one comment reading “Can’t blame him,” and another admitting: “Well that has ruined my day completely.”

Further responses criticised the club, with one fan stating “The club clearly have not kept their promises,” while another branded the board “a disgrace.”

Some Tottenham supporters urged caution, adding that it was “purely an opinion-based report, nothing concrete.” One supporter also questioned the timing, recalling similar rumours last summer.

What this could mean for Spurs going forward

This is not the first time Romero has been linked with a move away from Spurs, with reports during the course of last season also suggesting he was considering his future.

The Argentine defender even hinted at wanting a move to Spain, while there were reports of Atletico Madrid showing interest in signing Romero.

Whether anything materialises this time remains to be seen, although Romero may be feeling let down by a board that promised ambition when convincing him to sign a new deal, having previously accused the hierarchy of being liars earlier this season.
