Tottenham fans name their Micky van de Ven price tag amid Real Madrid transfer rumours

Tottenham Hotspur fans have named their price for Micky van de Ven, as speculation grows over Real Madrid’s reported interest in the Dutch defender.

Micky van de Ven already has a strong claim for Tottenham Hotspur’s player of the season, given his recent performances in a Spurs shirt.

The 24-year-old has been immense for Tottenham so far, showing his quality in both boxes.

Spurs have kept four clean sheets this season, with van de Ven at the heart of each, having featured in every Premier League game.

The defender has also taken his game up another level in attack, scoring six goals already this season, the most of any Tottenham player, following a barren goal spell last campaign.

Real Madrid monitoring Micky van de Ven amid Tottenham price tag talk

Van de Ven’s outstanding performances have naturally caught the attention of Europe’s elite. Real Madrid are understood to be monitoring the Spurs centre-back, with Paris Saint-Germain also keeping tabs on his situation.

Tottenham would be reluctant to lose their standout defender, as reports claim that Spurs have placed a huge price tag on van de Ven following growing interest from abroad.

Tottenhahm supporters have now weighed in, giving their views on what they believe would be a fair valuation for the Dutchman.

On social media platform X, one fan said: “Being our top goal scorer I’ll take 100m.” Another added: “£75m if the club is in another country. £90m if it is a club from England.”

A supporter who felt he was being undervalued commented: “I feel like some of these comments are massively undervaluing him, to be honest. I think you can find other players that have what he has in terms of defensive quality, but then factor in the fact that he’s 6’4 with the amount of pace he’s got (two untrainable assets), I say £100m at minimum.”

The £100m figure was a popular theme, with another Tottenham fan stating: “£80-90m. Do not think it is ridiculous to say £100m even when you look at the likes that have gone for that much.”

A higher valuation was also suggested, as one supporter wrote: “Whoever asked, we’d potentially strengthen a rival because we’re also playing in the Champions League, so no less than £120m, all things considered. He’s not for sale anyway.”

Another fan added: “Question is how many world-class defenders at his age are better than him? He’s easily worth £130-£150m.”

Why Spurs must keep hold of Van de Ven

Given the current market and seeing how much centre-backs have gone for, £100m and above is not an unreasonable figure for van de Ven.

Harry Maguire cost Manchester United £80m to secure him from Leicester City. Manchester City paid £77m for Josko Gvardiol, while Liverpool spent £75m on Virgil van Dijk.

Wesley Fofana joined Chelsea for £70m, while Lucas Hernandez moved from Atletico Madrid to Bayern Munich for £68m, rounding off the list of the five most expensive defenders in football.

Van de Ven could easily break into that list if Tottenham were ever to sell him.

However, if Spurs are serious about returning to the top table of English football, they must keep hold of their best players, and van de Ven certainly falls into that category.

The priority now should be ensuring the Dutchman remains in north London, with reports earlier this month suggesting Tottenham are already exploring a new contract to secure van de Ven’s long-term future.
