Tottenham fans have been quick to make their feelings clear ahead of the January transfer window, already naming the positions they believe must be prioritised if the squad is to keep pushing forward under Thomas Frank.

Tottenham Hotspur have made a bright start under Thomas Frank, although it has not been entirely smooth sailing, with results leaving some supporters encouraged but still unconvinced about the overall direction of play.

Frank’s side has only suffered one defeat so far this season, but with a few frustrating draws along the way, the football on show has not always been the most thrilling, and that has inevitably sparked a few questions from the fanbase.

Despite that, Tottenham remain in the top four of the Premier League, while also keeping their unbeaten record intact in the Champions League, which shows there is a solid platform in place, even if not everyone is convinced yet.

Tottenham fans outline January transfer demands

Spurs had little choice but to overhaul the squad in the summer, especially after last season’s disappointing 17th-place finish.

With more than £150 million spent, the club did bring in fresh faces; yet, the supporters are already voicing what they believe must be prioritised in the winter window.

When asked the players Tottenham should have on their radar, one fan wrote: “Muscle, cover for VDV, confident striker & a crafty playmaker.”

Another added: “Sign a left winger and send Odobert to the Championship. A goalkeeper and a striker would be great too.”

There were also more blunt takes from fans, with one saying: “A new WC spine for the team – so GK, January bid for CH Guehi, DM M Wharton, Forward Semenyo. Those three would all be first team starters and with the returns from injury we look solid. Move on Biss and Richy for sure.”

Another supporter was just as direct: “Get money for Johnson before everyone realises he is a fraud. Biss the door as well, loan for Odobert. Bring in a quality LW, cover for Micky.”

Others suggested names such as Guehi, Semenyo and even a return for Harry Kane in the summer, while more fans called for changes with quotes like: “Replace Vicario, Bentancur, Johnson. Buy a LW and learn Porro how to defend, he is a fantastic player, but a mediocre defender.”

Spurs may revisit left winger market in January

Spurs were strongly linked with a left winger during the summer, with Savinho at the top of their wishlist, yet the deal never materialised as Manchester City were not willing to budge on the Brazilian.

That door looks even more closed now, with Savinho on the verge of signing a new contract, which would make any move far more complicated for Tottenham.

Nevertheless, the winter market has been one Spurs have used in the past, with three additions arriving last January in the form of Kinsky, Danso and Tel, so history shows they are not afraid of doing business if the right opportunity arises.

Whether or not Frank and the board decide to be as active this time around remains to be seen, but what is not in doubt is that the Tottenham supporters have made their voices clear – they want upgrades and they want them fast.
