Tottenham Hotspur fans have reacted to Palmeiras’ reported interest in Richarlison by suggesting a swap deal with the Brazilian club.

While Tottenham Hotspur’s season ended on the final day of the Premier League campaign, clubs across the globe have been busy competing in the new format of the FIFA Club World Cup.

The tournament has now concluded, with Tottenham’s London rivals lifting the inaugural trophy. While there was only one winner, clubs across other continents took home sizeable rewards thanks to the lucrative prize pool.

A total of £743 million was shared amongst the 32 participating teams, with Palmeiras reaching the quarter-finals and walking away with a staggering £29.1 million for their efforts.

Palmeiras interested in Richarlison as Tottenham set £55m price

It has now been reported by GOAL that Brazilian side Palmeiras are interested in signing Richarlison from Tottenham, but the North London club have set a £55 million price tag.

Richarlison, 28, has two years left on his current contract and is reported to be for sale, after a disappointing 24/25 season that saw him struggle with injuries.

We reported a few days ago that Richarlison was attracting interest from clubs in Brazil, and that Palmeiras have opened discussions with Richarlison’s agent over a move this summer.

Tottenham fans have not held back in their reactions, with many of the Lilywhite faithful urging the club to cash in on the Brazilian forward, while others have suggested a player swap deal involving holding midfielder Richard Rios.

Spurs have been linked with a move for Richard Rios all summer, but have competition from Premier League rivals after his impressive Club World Cup form.

One fan remarked, “Drive him there myself”, another said, “Get it done, let him go”, while a third commented, “Time to sell!” A supporter joked, “I like Richy but £55 million come on lads 😂”. Another added, “WHY IS THIS DEAL NOT DONE YET???” A final fan chimed in, “That would be a brilliant move for all parties.”

There were also immediate calls for a swap deal, with one fan saying, “Doesn’t Rios play for them? If so, why not swap and give us a player and some cash?” Another added, “Swap deal. Richard Rios for Richy is also good,” while a third commented, “Can we make £40 million and get Richard Rios?”

Richard Rios impressed in Club World Cup and fits Tottenham’s midfield needs

Of course, Richarlison has endured a difficult spell during his time at Tottenham, with recurring injuries preventing him from finding form or rhythm.

Last season was arguably his most frustrating yet in a Spurs shirt, as he spent 188 days sidelined through injury, missing 37 matches in total.

It is little surprise that the club are open to selling him, with reports suggesting Tottenham are actively pursuing a new centre-forward this summer. With Richard Rios standing out during the Club World Cup and Spurs in need of a holding midfielder, a potential swap deal would make perfect sense for all parties.
