Tottenham Hotspur fans may not like what Gianluca di Marzio is reporting about Fabio Paratici’s rumoured move to Fiorentina.

Fiorentina are trying to poach Tottenham’s sporting director, with Paratici being locked in talks with the Serie A side over the last few days.

Reports from Italy have indicated Paratici is edging closer to a move to La Viola, but the English media has been playing a slightly different tune.

Sky Sports’ Michael Bridge revealed that as of Tuesday, Fiorentina had not made any contact with Spurs regarding Paratici, who still has two years left on his contract in North London.

Fabio Paratici expected to leave Tottenham in a matter of days

Gianluca di Marzio has now revealed that the Tottenham director is in the final stages of talks with the club rooted to the bottom of the Serie A table.

He explained that a preliminary agreement had been reached between the parties and Paratici will be announced as Fiorentina’s head of football within days.

Do Marzio told Sky Italia (as relayed by La Viola): “Paratici today gave a preliminary agreement to Fiorentina, accepting the contractual proposal from Ferrari, who acted as an intermediary with President Commisso.

“Now he will speak with Tottenham to try to get the green light. It’s a four-and-a-half-year contract, so full powers and a long-term investment in his role.

“I think it will be a matter of a few days, but Paratici has given his approval. He was convinced by Fiorentina’s project. He evidently felt he wanted to return to Italy and be a point of reference in an Italian club after the negotiations with Milan fell through. I presume he will also be involved in the transfer market, discussing it with Vanoli and Goretti, who remains.”

Big blow for Spurs ahead of the January window

Losing Paratici just days before January is far from ideal for Tottenham as they embark on a crucial transfer window.

According to reports, Paratici’s return was seen as a real coup internally at Spurs back in October, given the kind of transfer deals he pulled off in his previous spell as the club’s managing director of football.

The 53-year-old’s contact book would have undoubtedly come in handy for Tottenham, who may now have to search for a capable replacement.
