Tottenham handed huge NLD advantage over Arsenal that could make the difference

Thomas Frank has been handed a timely boost ahead of their meeting with Arsenal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham Hotspur went into this weekend 14th in the Premier League table, but still could have a big role to play in this year’s title race.

Last weekend, Tottenham put a dent in Manchester City’s title aspirations after they clawed their way back from two goals, following an abysmal first half, to secure a 2-2 draw against Pep Guardiola’s men.

That draw was a huge boost for their local rivals Arsenal, who now have a six-point lead at the top of the table going into matchweek 25.

Tottenham boost ahead of Arsenal clash at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Spurs took a whopping four points off Arsenal’s closest title rivals City this season, but so far have done little to hinder their rivals’ push for a Premier League title in over 20 years.

However, that could change as Tottenham have been handed somewhat of a boost ahead of their clash against Arsenal on 22 February.

Following their elimination from the FA Cup earlier this season, Spurs are set to have a total of 12 rest days between their game against Newcastle on 10 February and the North London Derby on 22 February.

Meanwhile, Arsenal will play three games in five days during that period, with their match vs Wolves on the 18th leaving them just four days’ rest.

Spurs could receive further injury boosts before derby

With the game set to come later this month, Thomas Frank could also be handed a couple of injury boosts.

The Dane has since revealed that both Richarlison and Pedro Porro could be back before the North London Derby. Djed Spence could also be fit as it remains touch and go with the full-back.

Last time Arsenal were involved in a title race with City, Heung-min Son’s famous miss when faced with Ortega was seen as a positive for the Lilywhite fans who were desperate not to give their rivals any helping hand.

Now, Spurs could well and truly put a direct dent in the Gunners’ aspirations if they secure a victory, although such victories have been hard to come by with Arsenal winning six of the last seven North London Derbies in the Premier League, including a 4-1 win early on this campaign.
