Tottenham Hotspur are no longer certain to face a scenario they have been dreading regarding Micky van de Ven this summer.
It has been widely reported over recent weeks that Van de Ven is not keen on signing a new contract at Spurs for the time being.
The Dutchman’s hesitation is understandable as the Lilywhites look set for another extremely poor Premier League finish this season on the back of their 17th place last term.
It has been claimed that there is panic at Tottenham about the possibility of losing Van de Ven this summer, as some of the biggest clubs across Europe circle over the defender.

Real Madrid prioritising Bundesliga star over Tottenham’s Micky van de Ven
Real Madrid have been mooted as one of the front-runners to land Van de Ven this summer. In fact, it has even been asserted that the Tottenham defender is waiting for Los Blancos to call as he eyes an exit from N17.
However, a report in AS has now revealed that the Spurs man may not be Madrid’s top defensive target this summer.
The outlet confirms that the La Liga giants are keen to add a left-footed defender to replace David Alaba in their squad, but it is Borussia Dortmund star Nico Schlotterbeck who is their top target.
It is explained that Schlotterbeck is the defender ‘generating the most buzz’ among the Madrid bosses ahead of the summer window.
Van de Ven is also wanted by other big clubs
Real Madrid are not the only huge club after the Tottenham centre-back, with Barcelona also thought to be stepping up their pursuit of Van de Ven.
Over recent months, some sources have even claimed that Liverpool have reportedly identified Van de Ven as their top target for next summer.
Interestingly, it has been suggested that Man United could also become a realistic destination for the Spurs defender in the summer if they seal Champions League qualification.
