Tottenham have their own Khvicha Kvaratskhelia as star makes 'world class' statement

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia signed for Paris Saint-Germain from Napoli for £70million just over a year ago and won the Champions League with his new squad last season

Mikey Moore's performance for Celtic against Rangers in the Old Firm has drawn comparisons to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

The on-loan Tottenham Hotspur winger was the standout performer in a first half that saw Youssef Chermiti score two sensational goals. Moore did not assist either, but did set up the striker for another attempt that saw him hit the outside of the post from a tight angle.

The teenager also found Nico Raskin at the near post, who forced a save from Viljami Sinisalo, but was offside. Moore himself had a shot, aimed at the far corner, headed away by Celtic's Dane Murray.

All of that happened inside the opening 10 minutes as the Rangers loanee was key to everything for the hosts at Ibrox.

Moore also almost found Ryan Naderi with another delivery that led to a last-ditch Celtic clearance behind for a corner. The only way Celtic could stop him was by tripping the winger, which saw Callum McGregor shown the game's first yellow card just before half-time.

There was plenty of praise for Moore's performance during the commentary. Chris Sutton said on Sky Sports: "Mikey Moore has been fantastic, you've got to say that."

Over on BBC Radio 5 Live, the former Chelsea winger Pat Nevin was full of praise. He said: "I have to keep on going back to Mikey Moore, I think he's been absolutely magnificent, some touches today have just been world-class.

"He reminds me - this is the highest of praise I can give you - [Khvicha] Kvaratskhelia. He's one of my favourite players in world football; he's playing like him today.

Alasdair Lamont agreed, saying: "I see the similarities, certainly. He moves in a similar way," before acknowledging that Moore "maybe has a bit to go to get to that standard on a consistent basis."

The former Rangers midfielder Andy Halliday also said: "He's the one player within Rangers' system that's given almost a free role to roam inside, pick up the ball and take that half-turn, drive at back fours. He's been superb so far."
