Tottenham have two major hurdles in pursuit of Juventus player, including a 2030 contract

Tottenham Hotspur may not find it easy to strike a deal for a forward who has been on their radar for years.

Speculation suggests that this could be Richarlison’s last season at Tottenham, while reports also suggest that Spurs are unlikely to sign Randal Kolo Muani permanently in the summer.

One would thus expect the North London club to pursue a striker to compete with Dominic Solanke in the summer.

Reports indicate that a Juventus striker is high on Tottenham’s wishlist, but the Lilywhites have been warned that a deal for the player will not be easy.

Tottenham may miss out on Jonthan David under one condition

Spurs explored a move for Jonathan David last summer, but the striker ended up joining Juventus on a free transfer after his contract with Lille ran out.

Tottenham also enquired about David ahead of the January window, and Pete O’Rourke expects the Lilywhites to reignite their interest in the Canadian international in the summer.

However, he warned the North London club that the 26-year-old may not consider a move to N17 unless they first manage to secure their Premier League status.

When asked about the speculation linking David with a move to Spurs, O’Rourke told Football Insider: “Well, Tottenham are long-term admirers of Jonathan David. They were interested before he made that free transfer move to Juventus last summer. He’s under contract until 2030, so it won’t be an easy deal to do if they’re interested.

“It’s hard to know what Tottenham’s transfer plans are right now because they don’t know what league they’re going to be in as well. They’re going to have to delay things until maybe closer to the end of the season, when their situation will become clearer. So a lot will depend on that if they’re able to potentially make a move for a player like Jonathan David.”

David is wanted by Spurs’ relegation rivals

Interestingly, it has been reported over recent days that West Ham and Nottingham Forest are prepared to challenge Tottenham for the Juventus striker’s signature.

Those are the three clubs who are fighting to avoid being the ones to join Wolves and Burnley in the Championship next term.

That update suggested that Lyon are also plotting a move to take the former Lille man back to Ligue 1 after his disappointing season in Turin.
