Tottenham are in talks with an experienced official about joining as their sporting director, but the Lilywhites have to overcome competition from one Bundesliga club.
Fabio Paratici’s exit from Spurs at the end of the January window has left a bit of a void at the club, with Johan Lange currently the only sporting director at Tottenham.
Over recent weeks, reports have indicated that Spurs have begun work to replace Paratici ahead of the summer transfer window and Roberto De Zerbi’s first full season in charge.
Several English sporting directors have been mooted as targets for Tottenham, and it appears that the Lilywhites are pushing ahead with a move for an experienced German.

Tottenham currently in negotiations with Sebastien Kehl
It emerged a couple of weeks ago that Tottenham are considering appointing Sebastian Kehl, who recently parted ways with Borussia Dortmund after spending five years as the club’s sporting director.
A new report in BILD (as relayed by Sport Witness) has now confirmed that the German is indeed on Spurs’ wishlist as the Lilywhites accelerate their search for a new director.
In fact, it is suggested that Kelh is currently in ‘intensive negotiations’ with Spurs over replacing Paratici.
However, the outlet reveals that the North Londoners face competition from Hamburg, who want to appoint their 46-year-old as their new board member for sport if they stay in the Bundesliga.
Another German director is also in Spurs’ sights
The report reveals that Kelh is not the only German official Tottenham are eyeing, with the Lilywhites also considering a move for Stefan Reuter.
Reuter has been with FC Augsburg since 2012, but it is said that he is ready for a fresh challenge, with Spurs identifying the 59-year-old as an option if they miss out on Kelh.
Meanwhile, journalist Ben Jacobs asserted last week that Johan Lange is under significant threat of losing his job at Tottenham this summer.
