Tottenham hold talks with Roberto De Zerbi: He is open to joining Spurs under one big condition

A new update has shed light on what Roberto De Zerbi is thinking after holding talks with Tottenham Hotspur.

It has been widely reported by reliable sources, such as Fabrizio Romano, that Roberto De Zerbi is Tottenham’s top managerial target to take over permanently.

However, several journalists have said that De Zerbi has no intention of taking a job before the summer after exiting Marseille last month.

It has been suggested that the Italian coach may not be too keen on a switch to Spurs in the summer, but a new report has now made a contradictory claim.

Roberto De Zerbi is willing to become Tottenham’s head coach under one condition

The Telegraph have now reported that the former Brighton boss is open to taking over at Spurs in the summer, provided the club manage to stay in the Premier League.

Tottenham find themselves just one point above the relegation zone, with seven league games left, and they face a huge fight on their hands to avoid going down for the first time in nearly half a century.

The report adds that Spurs are ‘trying to put plans in place to ensure their survival’ after Igor Tudor has guided them to four losses and one draw in his five league games in charge.

It is revealed that Spurs have already held talks with De Zerbi, but the outlet also adds that the 46-year-old could emerge as a target for both Man United and Liverpool jobs if Arne Slot leaves Anfield.

Mauricio Pochettino is also in the running for the Spurs job

The Telegraph assert that whatever happens between now and the end of the season, there is no prospect of Tottenham handing the reins to Tudor permanently.

Mauricio Pochettino remains the other big favourite, along with De Zerbi, for the long-term post in the summer.

The publication states that Tottenham are keen on appointing a manager with plenty of experience of navigating European football, although the club will not take part in any European competition next season.
