Tottenham Hotspur set sights on striker with just seven goals in his last 39 games

Tottenham Hotspur are already looking ahead to the summer window, with fresh reports suggesting striker reinforcements are firmly on the agenda.

The summer transfer window will be a big one for Tottenham Hotspur, who will be looking to rebuild their squad.

The forward line is one area that could use major improvement, given the poor output from their strikers this season.

Richarlison is Spurs’ top scorer but has yet to reach double figures in the Premier League, the same as Dominic Solanke and Randal Kolo Muani, with Mikey Moore having scored more goals than some of them.

Tottenham transfers: Jonathan David targeted in Juventus move

Football Insider has now revealed that Tottenham have set their sights on a deal to sign Juventus forward Jonathan David as they step up plans to recruit a new striker.

The Canadian international was linked with a move to Spurs in the winter window of 2025, but no deal came to fruition.

This season, David has scored seven goals and provided five assists, and remains on the radar of several clubs, including Tottenham.

Speaking on Spurs’ interest, Pete O’Rourke outlined the situation surrounding David, his struggles at Juventus and the difficulty of completing any deal.

He told Football Insider: “Tottenham are long-term admirers of David. They were interested before he made that free transfer to Juventus last summer.

“He has struggled, it is fair to say, since his arrival as Juve are not having the best of seasons. He has scored seven goals in 39 appearances, just 16 starts in Serie A.

“But he is under contract until 2030, so it will not be an easy deal to do for any club interested in signing Jonathan David.

“A lot could depend on where Juventus find themselves in the summer, if they are in the Champions League or not.

“If they are in the Champions League, it will give them more money to spend to strengthen their squad and that could mean David is pushed out.”

Spurs striker comparison raises Jonathan David questions

Making a move for a player struggling to make an impact at Juventus does not seem like the best piece of business for Tottenham, who are themselves struggling.

If the Spurs are looking to rebuild, they could be set to lose a few of their forwards, and based on output this season, there are a few areas where David is better than them.

Should he join, it is very unlikely he will improve the quality of play in the forward line, which will only leave Tottenham with another underwhelming forward.
