Joint table-toppers Tottenham Hotspur return home to face Bournemouth in the third week of the 2025/26 Premier League season.
It has been a dream start to life under Thomas Frank as Spurs boss. Two wins from two games have put his side joint top of the table alongside rivals Arsenal, and optimism is beginning to spread through N17.
After easing past Burnley 3-0 at home on the opening day, Tottenham followed it up with a 2-0 victory at the Etihad, beating Manchester City away for the second season running.
Bournemouth, on the other hand, travel to the capital with very different momentum. Just three days before this clash, they were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Brentford, despite battling with ten men.
In the league, it’s been a mixed bag: a 4-2 defeat at Anfield in which they collapsed late on, followed by a narrow 1-0 win over a ten-man Wolves side.
Still, the Cherries shouldn’t be underestimated. They are unbeaten in their last six Premier League trips to London (W1 D5), a stark contrast to their earlier struggles in the capital, where defeats were the norm. A win here would give them back-to-back away victories in London for the first time since 2018.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Bournemouth: Head-to-head record
Since Bournemouth returned to the top flight in 2022, they have actually picked up more points against Spurs (seven from six matches – W2 D1 L3) than they managed in their first ten attempts between 2015 and 2020 (five points – W1 D2 L7).
Thomas Frank himself has enjoyed this fixture, going unbeaten in six Premier League games against Bournemouth (W4 D2) during his time at Brentford. His record against Andoni Iraola is particularly strong, having already beaten the Spaniard three times, second only to his dominance over David Moyes. (BBC Sport)
Last season painted a frustrating picture for Spurs. A 1-0 defeat at the Vitality was followed by a chaotic 2-2 draw at home in March, where Tottenham had to claw back from 2-0 down.
As for the home record, Bournemouth’s only away win against Spurs in their last eight meetings remains that infamous 3-2 victory in April 2023.
Tottenham team news
It’s been a turbulent transfer window in North London. Multiple targets have slipped away, leaving fans frustrated as the deadline looms on 1 September. More pressing for Frank, however, is the lack of a natural number 10 in the squad heading into this game.
On the injury front, Destiny Udogie has returned to training after his pre-season knee setback, though he won’t be risked from the start. Djed Spence is set to continue filling in at left-back.
Elsewhere, James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, Radu Dragusin and Kota Takia remain long-term absentees. There are also questions hanging over the futures of Manor Solomon and Bryan Gil, which may be addressed in Frank’s pre-match press conference on Friday.
Bournemouth team news
Bournemouth’s squad looks largely the same as last weekend, though they are forced into one key change. Julian Araujo is suspended after his red card against Brentford in midweek.
Enes Unal and Lewis Cook, however, remain sidelined until at least next month. Otherwise, Iraola has a settled group to choose from.
Predicted Tottenham line-up
Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Spence; Bentancur, Palhinha, Sarr; Johnson, Richarlison, Kudus.
Thomas Frank is unlikely to tinker much, sticking with his strongest side as Spurs look to maintain their early momentum. Expect Dominic Solanke, Lucas Bergvall and Wilson Odobert to feature from the bench.
Our prediction
All eyes will once again be on Richarlison and Brennan Johnson. The Brazilian has been directly involved in 16 goals in his last 21 Premier League starts for Spurs (13 goals, 3 assists), including two goals and an assist already this season.
He could make club history if he contributes again here, as no Spurs player has ever registered a goal involvement in each of the first three matches of a Premier League campaign. Johnson could also hit that milestone, having scored in both league games so far.
For Bournemouth, Antoine Semenyo remains the danger man, contributing to eight of their last ten Premier League goals (six goals, two assists).
Frank’s personal record against Iraola is another layer to this story. Both managers were strongly linked with the Spurs job this summer, and the Dane will be keen to underline why he was the club’s choice.
With Spurs chasing their fourth-ever three wins-from-three start to a Premier League season, the motivation is clear. Bournemouth’s attacking intent suggests Spurs may not keep a clean sheet, but discipline and structure should see them through.
Predicted score: Tottenham 2-0 Bournemouth
