Three teams are now in the running to land Tottenham icon Dele Alli, with the midfielder’s future once again up in the air as he searches for a fresh start after a turbulent spell abroad.
Dele Alli’s time away from Tottenham Hotspur has been anything but glamorous, as the Englishman has endured difficult spells at three different clubs where he has struggled to make any lasting impact.
The 29-year-old has had to deal with personal battles off the pitch, but while he has shown resilience to come back strong in that regard, the footballing side of his career has yet to find stability.
The latest setback for Alli came just months after he joined Como in the winter window, but less than eight months later, both parties agreed to terminate his contract, leaving him once more without a club.
Dele is attracting transfer interest after Como exit
Alli is now on the lookout for a new home following a short-lived stint in Italy, where he featured for only ten minutes under Cesc Fabregas before being sent off with a red card.
According to the Daily Mail, the former England international is believed to be attracting interest from clubs back home, with a return to English football very much on the table.
It is understood that Birmingham City, Wrexham and West Bromwich Albion have all emerged as frontrunners to sign Alli, as he looks to revive a career that once promised so much.
Dele Alli’s Tottenham legacy and possible next move
Alli played the best football of his career at Spurs, where he delivered iconic moments in front of Tottenham fans and was once tipped to become England’s next big star.
His later spells in English football, however, failed to match those heights, with his time at Everton proving particularly underwhelming and doing little to restore his reputation.
While the three clubs chasing him are all in the Championship, there is a feeling that West Bromwich Albion could be the most likely destination, with the possibility of linking up with former Tottenham interim boss Ryan Mason, who famously restored Alli to the fold after Jose Mourinho had frozen him out.
