Journalist Ben Jacobs has provided an update on Tottenham’s pursuit of Sebastian Kehl and has revealed whether any other candidates are still in the running for the sporting director role.
It has been widely reported that Spurs have held talks with the former Borussia Dortmund man over becoming their sporting director.
In fact, it was revealed earlier this week by Florian Plettenberg that Kehl had become Tottenham’s top target to replace Fabio Paratici.
This was also subsequently confirmed by The Athletic, who stated that Kehl was considering his options after he shot to the top of Spurs’ wishlist.

Sebastian Kehl is in ‘advanced talks’ to join Tottenham but other candidates are also in contention
Ben Jacobs has now taken to social media to assert that the Lilywhites are ‘in advanced’ talks to appoint the German director ahead of the summer window.
The journalist claims that Chelsea’s co-sporting director, Paul Winstanley, has also been approached by the Lilywhites. Additionally, Tottenham are also fans of Dougie Freedman, but he is expected to remain at Saudi club Al-Diriyah.
Jacobs wrote on X: Sebastian Kehl is in advanced talks to join Spurs as sporting director, as Plettenberg called. Kehl is currently the leading candidate. Appreciation for Dougie Freedman, but Diriyah believe he will stay in Saudi. Paul Winstanley was approached by headhunters as part of the process.”

Johan Lange is set to stay at Spurs
Over recent weeks, some reports have suggested that Johan Lange is also at risk of losing his job at Tottenham this summer on the back of the club’s poor showing this term.
However, the previously mentioned updates from Plettenberg and The Athletic both suggest that Dane is expected to stay at the club.
It has been alleged that Spurs want Kehl to work alongside Lange to rebuild their squad ahead of Roberto De Zerbi’s first full season in charge.
