Tottenham is in "pole position" to sign Andy Robertson when the left-back leaves Liverpool this summer.
The Scotland international has confirmed he will be leaving Anfield at the end of the current season when his contract expires, bringing an end to his nine-year spell at the club. He follows Mohamed Salah in announcing his exit ahead of the summer, with Liverpool set to undergo another big change after last year’s huge spending spree.
Robertson will become a free agent upon the expiration of his contract, although he has already been linked with a number of clubs, with Spurs seemingly leading the charge for his signature.

However, the deal is subject to Spurs remaining in the Premier League. They currently sit 17th, just a point above the relegation zone with seven games remaining as Roberto De Zerbi prepares to take charge of his first game against Sunderland this weekend.
Tottenham was heavily linked with Robertson’s signing during the winter, and looked to have been in a position to complete a deal during the latter stages of the window before it was called off.

Liverpool was ultimately unwilling to sanction a mid-season departure, especially with the number of injuries suffered in defense this season, while Robertson himself is understood to have not wanted to push for the move unless it suited all parties.
Announcing his impending departure this week, Robertson hinted at that previous interest from Tottenham and why he decided to stay put at Anfield.
"It's never easy leaving a club like Liverpool, it has been a huge part of mine and my family's life for the last nine years,” Robertson said.

“But for me, players move on, other people move on - the thing that stays the same is the club and obviously the fans.
"I've had an amazing nine years here. I think it has been well-documented, especially over the last year or so, I've had opportunities to leave and I've not taken them because of how difficult it is to leave this club. And I wouldn't change that for the world.
"But I know football moves on, I know teams move on and I think now is the time for me to move on and go. Wherever my next move is and wherever my career takes me, I'll always look back on amazing memories at this football club.
"I've put my heart and soul into the club for nine years and I've not got many regrets. I've grown as a man and as a person. This club will always mean the world to me, the fans will mean the world to me. It has been a hell of a journey."
