Tottenham have been handed yet another blow in their injury crisis with Destiny Udogie forced off against Manchester United. The Italy international has only just returned from an absence, but he now looks set to be on the sidelines again after coming off at Old Trafford with January signing Souza on as his replacement.
Pedro Porro, Kevin Danso, Ben Davies, Rodrigo Bentancur, Lucas Bergvall, Richarlison and Mohammed Kudus have all suffered problems over the last few months. That is in addition to long-term absentees Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison.
With Djed Spence also absent, that is three left-back options out of action which makes the failed move for Liverpool's Andy Robertson hit even harder.
Spurs had all-but agreed terms to sign him but Liverpool pulled the plug on the deal after some injury problems of their own and with the decision made not to recall Kostas Tsimikas from a loan at AS Roma.
With the Scotland international remaining at Anfield, Souza was thrown on with his new club down a man after Cristian Romero's first-half red card.
