Tottenham have agreed a fee of around £35million with Crystal Palace to sell Brennan Johnson, football.london understands.

It's understood the Wales international, who joined Spurs from Nottingham Forest in a deal worth £47.5million two years ago, is yet to decide on his next destination as there are a number of clubs interested in the 24-year-old.

Johnson finished as Spurs’ leading scorer last season with 18 goals and produced the winner in the Europa League final against Manchester United to end the club’s 17-year wait for silverware. If Johnson is to depart, it will be the third year in a row that Tottenham have sold their top scorer from the previous season.

Johnson has largely been a back-up to summer recruit Mohammed Kudus on the right wing since Thomas Frank replaced Ange Postecoglou in June and speculation over a departure away from Tottenham has recently increased. Crystal Palace are leading the race to sign the winger but no final decision has been made as of yet.

Frank insisted Johnson was still an "important player" for Spurs after the weekend victory over Crystal Palace. “I think Brennan is very important for us,” he said.

“Maybe he didn't get many minutes, but unfortunately, we can only play 11 players. We spoke about it before with Mo (Kudus), he's coming in and put his stamp on that right-winger position.

“Then [on] the left, we tried different solutions. [He has] still started quite a few games. I think Brennan is an important player for us.”

Oliver Glasner has made clear on multiple occasions of late his frustration over a lack of transfer business last summer when Eberechi Eze was sold midway through August. “I don’t have enough money to sign players, the transfer fees are too high,” Glasner smiled when asked if he had been given assurances of signings in January.

“I think to be honest if you watch our game, it is pretty clear what we need and then it is a decision of Crystal Palace. If you are constantly under-performing scoring goals, yeah. Look all I can do is encourage the players, support them and be positive.”
