Tottenham Hotspur may have just hinted that they are about to appoint an experienced Italian sporting director.

Fabio Paratici’s exit from Spurs last month leaves Johan Lange as Tottenham’s only sporting director.

Reports over the last few days have indicated that Spurs have begun work to replace Paratici, and the North London club want to have an appointment in place before the summer so that the newcomer can have an input on the club’s next head coach.

Several experienced sporting directors have been mooted as targets for Tottenham, and a new name has now been thrown into the hat.

Cristiano Giuntoli could be on his way to Tottenham

According to a report in Il Giornale (as relayed by Sport Witness), Tottenham are ‘seriously exploring’ the possibility of appointing Cristiano Giuntoli.

Giuntoli was in attendance at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday to watch Crystal Palace beat the Lilywhites 3-1.

It is revealed that the Italian, who has been out of work since leaving Juventus last year, is ready to return to football.

The outlet says that Giuntoli wants to ‘reclaim the spotlight’ and his appearance at the N17 is ‘a clear sign’ that Tottenham are seriously exploring appointing him.

Spurs have to beat Serie A club to Giuntoli

The 54-year-old spent two years at Juventus, before which he served as Napoli’s sporting director for eight years.

Il Giornale say that Giuntoli is also on the wishlist of AS Roma, who are looking for a new sporting director amidst the friction between manager Gian Piero Gasperini and their current director Frederic Massara.

The publication suggests that Tottenham may have to move quickly if they want to appoint Giuntoli, as his ‘path to the Italian capital is becoming increasingly concrete’.
