Tottenham may have been willing to splash the cash on a Premier League winger this month, but their pursuit of the player is now over.
It was reported leading up to the transfer window that signing a winger is Tottenham’s number one priority, but the Lilywhites do not appear to be close to doing that yet.
They have instead strengthened their midfield by landing Conor Gallagher, while reinforcements are on the verge of arriving for their backline, with Tottenham striking a deal for Brazilian left-back Souza.
It has now been revealed that a deal for Spurs’ top winger target is no longer feasible this month.

Tottenham were willing to break the bank for Man City star
It has been widely reported that Spurs could reignite their interest in Savinho after Man City blocked his departure last summer.
Journalist George Sessions has now predicted that the Lilywhites may have spent big on the Brazilian this month, but the 21-year-old’s latest injury has ruined those plans.
Sessions told GiveMeSport’s Market Madness podcast: “I think Spurs, in this window, are certainly going to look for opportunities with attacking wide players, and Savinho is unfortunate.
“Because I think there’s probably a real possibility they would have gone big for him, especially after they missed out on Semenyo, who obviously went to Man City. But Savinho is now injured, isn’t he? So that’s kind of another one off the list.”
Spurs are turning their attention to a Monaco star
Regular readers of Spurs Web will be aware that over the last few days, one winger in particular is being increasingly mentioned as the Lilywhites’ top target.
The player in question is Maghnes Akliouche, for whom Monaco are looking for replacements amidst Tottenham’s interest.
The Ligue 1 side are expected to demand £50m for the Spurs target, who has three goals and five assists across 23 appearances this season.
