Tottenham may have to pay £61.2m to beat Chelsea and Man United to German international

Tottenham Hotspur have found out that they will have to spend big in the summer to land a German international who is on their wishlist.

The Spurs squad has no shortage of holes which need to be addressed, and the club will first hope to secure their Premier League status before they eye some big changes in the summer.

Among those holes is undoubtedly the central midfield area, where Spurs have struggled to progress the ball and have been lacking in creativity.

Over recent months, it has emerged that Tottenham are assessing a move for a Borussia Dortmund midfielder, who played against them in the Champions League last month.

Tottenham have to spend big to land Felix Nmecha

The player in question is Felix Nmecha, who is allegedly seen as the ‘ideal physical robust engine’ by Tottenham for their midfield.

A new report in Bild has now revealed that the 25-year-old is emerging as a target for several top sides in light of his consistency in the Bundesliga this season.

The report claims that Nmecha has signed for an England-based agency, ‘The Talent Table’, which is seen as a precursor ahead of a potential switch to the Premier League in the summer.

It is asserted that Dortmund are expected to demand a fee of around €70m (£61.2m) for the midfielder in the summer.

Spurs face competition for Nmecha’s signature

Interestingly, Bild do not mention Tottenham in their latest report, instead naming Chelsea and Manchester United as contenders for the Bundesliga star’s signature.

The outlet also explains that Nmecha also has English citizenship, having spent eight years in Manchester City’s youth academy.

The midfielder would thus be considered homegrown, and as a result, it has been reported that the Spurs target is expected to attract ‘significant interest’ from the Premier League this summer.
