Tottenham may recall Alejo Veliz in order to accept tempting permanent transfer bid

Tottenham Hotspur have made a decision on the future of one of their centre forwards who has only ever made eight Premier League appearances.

It is easy to forget that Alejo Veliz is still officially a Tottenham Hotspur player. The striker has spent most of his time at the club on loan, where he has seen limited success.

Veliz had two spells in La Liga with Sevilla and Espanyol respectively, but he struggled to find his shooting boots at both teams.

However, the 22-year-old has been enjoying his football more since returning to his boyhood club Rosario Central. He has found the net five times in 16 league appearances and this has caused interest from another South American side.

Tottenham could recall Alejo Veliz from his Rosario Central loan

According to UOL, Spurs may attempt to terminate Veliz’s loan at Rosario Central six months early. This is in order to facilitate a transfer to Brazilian outfit Bahia, who have made an offer to buy the forward.

Negotiations have advanced and sources who have been watching the saga unfold believe an agreement in principle is now in place between the two clubs.

The value of Bahia’s offer has not yet been officially disclosed, but the proposal is expected to be quite high. However, this does not guarantee Tottenham will avoid making a loss on the player, who cost them £13m back in 2023.

Although Veliz has received very few chances at Spurs, it is understandable that he would be sold considering his loans in Spain. The youngster struggled at both Sevilla and Espanyol, so it is difficult to see how he would succeed at Tottenham.

Despite this, Veliz has been able to return to his home country and regain his confidence. Therefore, a permanent move and a fresh start could be the best move for all parties concerned.
