A long-term Tottenham midfield target is set to leave his club in January following talks with his manager, but Man United and Newcastle are also keen.
Reports over recent weeks suggest that Spurs want to add a central midfielder with Premier League experience to their squad in the upcoming transfer window.
It has been suggested that Tottenham are preparing an offer to bring Ruben Neves back to England after he decided to leave Al-Hilal.
However, he is not the only central midfielder the Lilywhites are looking at, with Spurs reported to have also spoken to Conor Gallagher regarding a January move.

Conor Gallagher makes transfer decision amidst Tottenham interest
According to TEAMtalk, Gallagher is now prepared to ‘accelerate’ his move away from Atletico Madrid over the coming days.
The England international is thought to have spoken to Diego Simeone about his lack of game time this season, with the La Liga club ready to sell him.
It is revealed that while Simeone would prefer to keep Gallagher, he accepts that the 25-year-old needs regular game time in order to get into the England squad for the World Cup.
A source close to the situation explained to the outlet: “Atletico acknowledge they can’t give Conor the football he wants and deserves. That is the key issue, and they know he is too good to sit on the bench and they don’t want to wreck his chances of going to the World Cup.”
Spurs facing competition from three clubs for Gallagher
TEAMtalk name Tottenham Hotspur as one of the clubs keeping an eye on the midfielder’s situation, but they are expected to face intense competition for the player’s services.
Manchester United are also big fans of Gallagher, while Newcastle United and Inter Milan are also keen on signing him.
The publication adds that while Atletico could prefer to sell the former Chelsea man permanently, intermediaries believe a potential loan with an option to buy could be the more realistic outcome next month.
