The whistle has blown for full-time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and it’s time for our Spurs player ratings vs Slavia Prague in the Champions League.
Tottenham full-time player ratings vs Slavia Prague
Guglielmo Vicario – Made a couple of routine saves in the first 45 to keep Tottenham’s clean sheet intact. Slavia really should have tested him more in the second half from some of the chances they had. Made four saves in the end, albeit relatively simple ones. 6.
Pedro Porro – A quiet first 45, but won Spurs a vital penalty within minutes of the second half starting. Spurs did most of their best attacking down the left or over the top down the right, so we didn’t see too much of Porro this evening. Went off early after taking a hit to his toe but seemed okay. 6.
Cristian Romero – Assisted Tottenham’s opener with a flick-on header at the near post. Proved once again he is one of the best ball-playing centre-backs in the world with a superb pass over the top to set Kudus in one goal, as well as multiple of his own line-breaking runs through the heart of the pitch. 8.
Micky Van de Ven – Booked for an accidental hand in the face. Now he is suspended for the game at home to Dortmund. Had a nice battle with the Slavia striker, and definitely won the war over the 90. 6.5.
Djed Spence – Seems to have a nice understanding with Odobert who actually offers consistent width and runs in behind down the left. Spence was solid at the back and creative going forward. Spurs are going to need more of that with Udogie out until January. 7.
Joao Palhinha – Booked despite taking the ball cleanly. Served as a strong pivot for Tottenham this evening, allowing the more creative midfielders to push high. 6.5.
Archie Gray – Another 60 minutes under the belt this evening. Archie Gray seems to have gone from a bench-warmer to a first-choice now under Thomas Frank, thanks to two confident displays. Suits his game to sit next to a Palhinha, allowing him to be more of a progressive, all-action presence. 6.5.
Xavi Simons – It’s amazing what a goal can do for your confidence. Simons looked really sharp this evening, especially when he got the chance to turn and run at the Slavia defence. Made it back-to-back goals after both winning and converting a 79th-minute penalty 7.5.

Mohammed Kudus – He had a busy old first-half full of electric runs in behind, misplaced touches in the box, and delicious crosses, but it was a second-half penalty that finally got him on the scoresheet. Since when was Kudus on pens? Guilty of holding onto the ball too long at times, which prevented a really good performance from becoming a great one. 8.
Richarlison – Should have kept the feel-good vibes going after Sonny’s speech, but missed an absolute sitter in the first minute. Showed some nice hold-up play after that though, and deserved an assist for his cross to Kudus in the box. Fluffed a good chance on 57 minutes when he failed to connect. 6.5.
Wilson Odobert – Put a sitter on a plate for Richarlison in the opening minute after some delicious wingplay. Could have grabbed his own goal at the start of the second, but it was well-saved. Deserves to get a few starts under his belt at left wing to build some consistency. 7.
Substitutes:
Mathys Tel – 24 hours ago, he wasn’t in the Champions League squad – now he’s on the pitch! Looked bright in his first exchanges, forcing the keeper into a save from a tight angle. Looked like he had a point to prove this evening. 7.
Pape Sarr – Came on to give Gray a rest and completely outran the Slavia midfield. 7.
Randal Kolo Muani – Lovely little chest down for Xavi in the build-up to the penalty. N/A.
Ben Davies – He clearly didn’t want to miss his best mate’s homecoming. N/A.
Lucas Bergvall – N/A
