Tottenham make the trip to Norway on Tuesday night to face Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League, with Thomas Frank’s men looking to make it three wins from three against the Norwegian outfit. Let’s take a look at our predicted Tottenham XI to face Bodo/Glimt.
Attention now turns to continental affairs for Tottenham Hotspur as they gear up to take on Norwegian side Bodo Glimt.
The two sides will clash for the third time this year on Tuesday in the Champions League, after Tottenham comfortably dispatched them last season in the Europa League, with Ange Postecoglou as Spurs boss.
It finished 5-1 on aggregate, with the Lilywhites beating Glimt both home and away, even keeping a clean sheet on the Norwegian side’s artificial turf.
Let us now look at how Thomas Frank could line his side up on Tuesday against Bodo Glimt in Norway
Tottenham predicted XI vs Bodo/Glimt in Champions League
Goalkeeper – Guglielmo Vicario: Despite his poor handling for Wolves’ opener last weekend, we do expect Frank to stick with the Italian on Tuesday.
Right-back – Pedro Porro: The Spaniard was handed a rare rest in the league, but he could very well return to the starting XI. Porro could even be handed the captain’s armband in Norway.
Centre-back – Kevin Danso – Frank is forced into a change at the heart of his Tottenham defence as Cristian Romero was left at home as a precaution.
Centre-back – Micky van de Ven: It may have been touch and go with the Dutchman, who could be rested given his injury record, as Spurs are set to play on an artificial surface. However, with Romero unavailable, Van de Ven simply must play.
Left-back – Djed Spence: The England full-back could return to the right after featuring on the left last time out. Hopefully, another winger is added to the Djed Spence penitentiary.
Pivot midfielder – Rodrigo Bentancur: Taken off a little earlier when Tottenham were chasing an equaliser against Wolves, he is more rested than Palhinha, who could be dropped for this tie.
Centre midfielder – Lucas Bergvall: We do not expect to see a double pivot in this tie, as Frank may opt for two eights, and given Bergvall’s form, he could start once more.
Centre midfielder – Pape Matar Sarr: The young midfielder featured from the bench against Wolves and assisted Palhinha’s wonder strike. With Frank not using Simons as a ten, he could turn to Sarr to fill that role.
Left midfielder – Xavi Simons: Simons endured his worst game in a Tottenham shirt against Wolves on the left, leading to calls for him to start in the middle. It remains to be seen if Frank opts for that switch.
Striker – Richarlison: With no Tel in the squad, Solanke still out, and Muani sidelined, Richarlison will continue as the number nine in Europe.
Right midfielder – Mohammed Kudus: The Ghana international has only been rested once this season, in the tie against Doncaster Rovers, and we do not expect Frank to drop him for this Champions League phase match.
