Igor Tudor is speaking after Tottenham beat Atletico Madrid 3-2 on Wednesday evening but went down 7-5 on aggregate in their Champions League last 16 second leg match.
Spurs took the game to the visitors and opened the scoring on the half hour. The bright Mathys Tel picked out his compatriot Randal Kolo Muani with a curling cross from the right and the striker headed into the bottom left corner of the net.
Atletico then found the net two minutes into the second half. Xavi Simons was knocked over as he went to shoot at one end and Atletico broke up the pitch and Julian Alvarez rocketed an effort into the top left corner.
Just five minutes later though and Spurs struck again. Great work from Archie Gray saw him win the ball back, play a one-two with Pape Matar Sarr, and then he knock it inside for the Dutchman to curl home a low effort. Atletico found another though when David Hancko got in front of Sarr to nod home a header from a corner.
Spurs got a late penalty when Xavi was felled in the box and he clipped in the penalty off the inside of the left-hand post but the hosts were left to rue a couple of missed chances in either half that could have ended things differently. They still went off to a standing ovation from the crowd for another promising display under Igor Tudor.
