Journalist Pete O’Rourke has made a prediction about Andy Robertson’s future after Tottenham Hotspur failed to land the Liverpool star in January.
Robertson appeared all set for a move to Tottenham a few weeks ago, but in the end, the transfer fell through.
Even though Spurs had initially agreed a fee with Liverpool for Robertson, the Reds blocked the 31-year-old’s switch to N17 after being unable to recall Kostas Tsimikas from his loan spell at AS Roma.
According to reports, although the left-back had informed Liverpool he wanted to move to Tottenham, he was accepting of the club’s decision to keep him until the end of the season.

Tottenham are not assured of Andy Robertson signing in the summer
One would expect the Lilywhites to go back in for the Scotland international in the summer, but journalist Pete O’Rourke has suggested that they might find it much harder to strike an agreement with the defender.
He claimed that the full-back is expected to attract a lot more interest from across Europe once his Liverpool contract runs out, thus complicating matters for Spurs.
O’Rourke told Football Insider: “Tottenham made moves for Robertson but couldn’t get it done. He would’ve been a good signing for them on the cheap, but it now looks like it’s going to be a free transfer at the end of the season instead.
“You won’t get much better than him for free, but Tottenham aren’t the only club who are going to be in for him in the summer. They wanted to get it done in January and they would’ve got in before other clubs, but if he’s leaving Liverpool at the end of his contract, clubs in Europe will make moves as well.
“It might be more difficult for them to get him in that case, depending on who comes in. There’s definitely going to be interest in him, and I expect him to be looking to agree a free transfer when the time comes, so it’s not going to be just Tottenham.”
Spurs may have different priorities in the summer
There is no guarantee that Robertson will be near the top of Tottenham’s wishlist in the summer.
The circumstances of the move were very specific, with Spurs making advances towards the experienced Liverpool star after Ben Davies suffered a long-term injury.
The North Londoners may prefer a longer-term option in the summer. Additionally, there is no guarantee that Thomas Frank will still be in charge, and any new manager will have their own targets.
