Tottenham’s Djed Spence opens up on ‘proudest day of my life’ after making England history

Djed Spence made his debut for England in their win over Serbia, and the Tottenham man took to social media to admit that it was a dream come true.

The cap was very well deserved for the Spurs man, who has not looked back since breaking into the Tottenham team midway through last season.

Spence made history by becoming the first-ever Muslim player to play for England, with the 25-year-old thus becoming a role model others will look to.

The former Middlesbrough man has now given himself a good chance of being on the plane for next year’s World Cup, but it has certainly not been a straightforward journey for him.

Tottenham’s Djed Spence reacts after making his debut for England

Spence has spoken about his difficult journey at Tottenham, with the full-back overlooked and shipped out on loan during his first two seasons in North London.

That difficult journey probably made yesterday even sweeter for the 25-year-old, who replaced Reece James at right-back on 69 minutes in Belgrade as England demolished the Serbs 5-0.

Spence has taken to social media to admit that it was the proudest day of his life and that he had been dreaming about this moment for a long time.

He said: ‘Today arguably the Greatest and Proudest day of my life. Honoured to make my England debut. A day I’ve dreamt of all my life & now has become a reality. GOD IS THE GREATEST.’

Spence is an example for other young players

In modern-day football, we see a lot of young players push for an exit or throw their toys out of the pram as soon as they feel they are being treated a little unfairly.

That is probably because all of them have many advisors around them who are giving them poor advice.

However, despite being treated very badly at Spurs, Spence put his head down and continued working hard, and he is now getting his just reward.
