Tottenham Hotspur secured both Randal Kolo Muani and Xavi Simons in the closing days of the summer transfer window, which has completely transformed Thomas Frank’s strongest XI.
While Spurs fans may not have liked the fact that Tottenham left some of their business until late, the club will feel that their decision has been justified, given the two players they got through the door in the final days of the transfer window.
Tottenham ended the window with six new signings: Mathys Tel, Kota Takai, Mohammed Kudus, Joao Palhinha, Xavi Simons and Randal Kolo Muani, who arrived on loan on deadline day.
While it may not have been a perfect transfer window for Spurs, who failed to strengthen at centre-back, overall, the club have managed to fulfil Thomas Frank’s remit of signing experienced players who would improve the quality of the squad.
What is Tottenham’s strongest XI with Randal Kolo Muani and Xavi Simons?
The signings of Simons and Kolo Muani have completely changed the outlook on the transfer window for Tottenham, whose starting eleven and bench now look very strong.
One would expect the Dutchman to walk straight into the starting eleven, given the fee that Spurs have paid for him, while the Frenchman could also be given the nod to start upfront or on the left.
Here is Tottenham’s strongest eleven according to Spurs Web: Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Spence; Palhinha, Bentancur; Kudus, Simons, Kolo Muani; Richarlison.
Of course, this starting XI could change dramatically once the likes of James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski are back.
The proof is in the pudding for Spurs’ summer transfer window
Four of the six signings Tottenham have made arguably walk into Frank’s starting eleven, which is clear evidence that the club have done a good job this summer.
Additionally, the Spurs head coach has plenty of top-quality options on the bench. One can make the case that Destiny Udogie, Pape Sarr, Lucas Bergvall, Mathys Tel, and Dominic Solanke can all play in the starting eleven without weakening it considerably.
One should not forget that Dejan Kulusevski is also due to be back in a few months, which will leave Frank with an embarrassment of riches in attack.
