Tottenham sale failed because player has a ‘whole sheet of paper’ full of problems

A Turkish journalist has suggested that Yves Bissouma’s move to Fenerbahce collapsed because the Istanbul giants were informed of a spate of personal issues with the Tottenham man.

It was reported last month that Galatasaray pulled out of an agreement to sign Bissouma due to concerns about his fitness.

Tottenham Hotspur have been unable to move on the midfielder, who is now in the final year of his contract, but they still have time to do so.

It has been suggested that Bissouma could complete a move to Turkey or Saudi Arabia, with the transfer windows in both those countries still remaining open.

Why Fenerbahce turned down the chance to sign Tottenham’s Yves Bissouma

Over recent days, some Turkish outlets have claimed that Fenerbahce’s interest in Bissouma has cooled, with the player now unlikely to join the club before the September 12 Turkish transfer deadline.

Journalist Sercan Hamzaoglu has now spoken on why the move fell through, revealing that apart from the Tottenham man’s injury problem, they were also informed of issues in his personal life, which put them off from pursuing a deal.

Hamzaoglu said on FutbolArena (as translated by Sport Witness): “Fenerbahçe was going to sign Bissouma. But he has an injury problem. He has a trial. He has a nightlife. He is a very good player, but you have to take a lot of risks to transfer him. They put a whole sheet of paper in front of Ali Koc about the player’s problems.”

Did Thomas Frank make a mistake by speaking on Bissouma’s discipline issues?

The former Brighton man has had his fair share of problems off the pitch at Spurs. Bissouma famously got pictured inhaling laughing gas last summer.

Last month, Thomas Frank admitted publicly that Bissouma had been left out of the Super Cup squad due to disciplinary issues.

While one can understand why the Dane wanted to punish the midfielder for his behaviour, perhaps it was not ideal for him to share that information publicly.

That has only added to concerns over the Mali international’s character, which could end up costing Spurs around £10m-£15m in transfer fee.
