Tottenham star nominated for Premier League Goal of the Month after memorable moment

One Tottenham midfielder has been recognised for his stunning goal with a nomination for the Premier League September Goal of the Month.

Tottenham Hotspur had a mixed run of form in September, with the Lilywhites avoiding defeat across the month but struggling to convert performances into victories.

Their only win came in the London derby against West Ham United, where Thomas Frank’s men delivered a convincing display to secure a 3-0 triumph at the London Stadium.

It was a statement win for Spurs and one that saw three different players find the back of the net, with Pape Matar Sarr, Lucas Bergvall and Micky van de Ven all getting on the scoresheet.

Tottenham’s Lucas Bergvall nominated for Premier League goal of the month

The Premier League has now confirmed that Bergvall’s 57th-minute effort at the London Stadium has been shortlisted for the September goal of the month award, giving Tottenham supporters the chance to back their youngster in the fan vote.

Bergvall’s strike was a memorable one, and it carried extra significance as it marked his first-ever Premier League goal for Tottenham.

The move started from deep, with Cristian Romero picking out the Swede with a long ball forward, and the teenager showed brilliant composure and timing to meet it with a powerful header that left the goalkeeper rooted.

His goal is in competition with efforts from Martin Zubimendi (Arsenal 3-0 Nottingham Forest), Ryan Gravenberch (Liverpool 2-1 Everton), Anton Stach (Wolves 1-3 Leeds), Tyrick Mitchell (West Ham 1-2 Crystal Palace), Harry Wilson (Fulham 3-1 Brentford), Gabriel Martinelli (Arsenal 1-1 Manchester City) and Igor Thiago (Brentford 3-1 Manchester United).

Spurs must now build on September progress

While September brought moments of promise, there is still significant room for improvement, and Thomas Frank will undoubtedly be reminding his squad of the levels they need to maintain.

October offers a sterner test with league fixtures against Leeds United, Aston Villa and Everton, and Spurs will need to show greater consistency if they are to build momentum.

Tottenham Supporters remain divided in their outlook for the month ahead, with many hesitant to predict maximum points from those three outings, yet there is still hope that the squad can take the next step under Frank’s guidance.
