Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a major boost in their rumoured pursuit of a Real Madrid star this January transfer window.
No Tottenham player has been scrutinised as much as Guglielmo Vicario has this season, with the goalkeeper guilty of making several errors.
The Italian’s long-term future at Spurs is in major doubt as he continues to be heavily linked with a return to Serie A.
According to various sources, Spurs have started exploring Vicario’s eventual successor, and it has now emerged that one of those can be signed on a discount.

Tottenham can sign Real Madrid goalkeeper for a cut-price fee
According to Defensa Central Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin is one of the names on Spurs’ wishlist.
Lunin is behind Thibaut Courtois in the Madrid pecking order, and given his lack of game time, his representatives are now working on finding the 26-year-old a new club.
In fact, it is revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have now been made aware of how much they need to pay for the Ukrainian shot-stopper.
The report adds that Madrid are ‘very clear’ that they will sell Lunin if they get an offer of €30m (£26m) for the goalkeeper.
Who are the other goalkeepers on Spurs’ wishlist?
It has been claimed that Tottenham are also big fans of Man City’s young shot-stopper James Trafford, who is thought to be looking for an exit route from the Etihad Stadium.
Some sources have also floated the possibility that Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez would replace Vicario at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
It is not just Vicario that Frank may be losing, with reports indicating that Antonin Kinsky is also attracting loan interest from the Premier League.
