Tottenham will be thrilled by what Jamie Donley just did on the international stage

Tottenham midfielder Jamie Donley has scored his first international goal in his sixth senior outing for Northern Ireland.

Some on-loan Spurs youngsters have had outstanding starts to the season, none more so than Luka Vuskovic, who is lighting up the Bundesliga.

Tyrese Hall is also racking up some sensational performances for Notts County, but it has been a struggle for one fellow Tottenham academy midfielder.

Jamie Donley won a lot of admirers with his impressive exploits on loan at Leyton Orient last term, but the attacking midfielder has had a difficult start to life in the Championship, having made just four league appearances for Stoke City so far.

Tottenham youngster Jamie Donley scores for Northern Ireland

Although the midfielder represented England from U15 to U19 level, he has subsequently switched allegiances, with Donley making his senior debut for Northern Ireland back in March.

The Tottenham man has now established himself as a regular in the nation’s starting eleven and he scored his first goal for the country from the penalty spot on Monday as they beat Luxembourg 1-0 in Belfast.

Donley stepped up confidently after the home side were awarded a spot-kick in the 44th minute and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way.

Spurs could consider recalling Donley

It appeared last month that Donley may get a run in the Stoke City XI due to the club’s injuries in midfield.

However, that has not happened, with the Spurs academy graduate struggling to even get minutes as a substitute at the bet365 Stadium.

Reports indicate that Tottenham are considering recalling Donley in January and sending him on loan to a different club, and that seems likely to happen if his situation at the Championship side does not change soon.
