Journalist Pete O’Rourke has shed light on a potential upheaval at centre-back for Tottenham Hotspur, with Cristian Romero and Micky Van de Ven linked with exits.
Even if Spurs manage to stay up this season, which is far from a guarantee at the moment, it will likely be the second campaign in a row where the club have finished towards the bottom end of the standings.
The Lilywhites look set to miss out on all European competitions next term, and there could thus be worries at N17 that some of the club’s best players may have their heads turned.
According to reports, some Spurs stars are already attracting interest from top Premier League clubs ahead of the summer.

Tottenham could face a battle to hold onto two key men
It has been reported over recent weeks that there is panic at Spurs about the possibility of both Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero leaving the club.
Journalist Pete O’Rourke has suggested that the North Londoners may have their work cut out to retain their star centre-back pair in the summer.
O’Rourke told Football Insider: “Look, if Spurs are out of Europe and struggling, they’re going to find themselves more and more susceptible to offers for their best players. It’s going to be an interesting summer for Tottenham. Let’s see where they are.
“They’ll be desperate to get out of this relegation dogfight and improve their squad to avoid a similar situation in the coming seasons. Let’s see if something happens with Romero and Van de Ven, if both of those players were to leave, obviously, they will need to bring in replacements.”
Spurs may struggle to land Bayern Munich star
According to reports in Germany, Tottenham are one of the clubs eyeing a summer move for Bayern Munich’s Kim Min-jae.
O’Rourke confirmed that Spurs have started looking at reinforcements in central defence, but suggested that a deal for the South Korean may be hard for the club to complete.
The journalist added: “I think they’ve been looking at some centre-backs who might be available. Kim [Min-jae], I think, has got all the attributes to be a success in the Premier League.
“It’s a tough deal to do, and there are a number of clubs who will be looking at Kim’s situation at Bayern, especially if he decides he wants to move on.”
