Tottenham won’t like the sound of the latest Savinho update from David Ornstein

3 hours ago 27

David Ornstein has now shared a significant update on Tottenham’s pursuit of Savinho, with the saga taking a fresh twist just days before the summer transfer window closes.

Tottenham Hotspur remain firmly interested in securing Savinho this summer, even with the transfer deadline day fast approaching.

The Brazilian winger has emerged as a key target for Thomas Frank, who is said to be pushing hard for his arrival in north London.

Reports suggest Tottenham are prepared to raise their Savinho bid significantly, with figures in the region of £60 million being considered.

Manchester City, however, remain reluctant to part ways with the youngster. Savinho has yet to make a first-team appearance for City, but despite that, they are determined to keep hold of him as the situation with Spurs continues to drag on.

David Ornstein provides Tottenham Savinho transfer update

With just under a week remaining in the summer window, David Ornstein, writing in his column for The Athletic, has provided an update on Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Savinho.

According to Ornstein, Tottenham’s hopes of prising the winger away from Manchester City could depend on City completing a move for Rodrygo from Real Madrid.

Pep Guardiola is known to be an admirer of the Brazilian, yet the high wage demands and the substantial asking price from Madrid could make negotiations extremely difficult.

Ornstein went on to reveal that for the Savinho deal to progress, Rodrygo would need to inform Real Madrid that he wants to leave. At this point, however, The Athletic have made it clear that no such indication has been given by the player.

Spurs chances with Savinho remain uncertain

It is understood that should Rodrygo make a formal request to leave this summer, that could potentially open the door for talks between Real Madrid and Manchester City.

Guardiola would be interested in signing him, and such a move could create an opportunity for Tottenham to revisit discussions over Savinho. At present, though, this scenario is purely hypothetical, as no progress has been made on the Rodrygo front.

The Brazilian has played only once for Real Madrid this season, managing 63 minutes before being substituted, and he appeared visibly frustrated when withdrawn.

The Athletic have also reiterated that Manchester City maintain their stance of not wanting to sell Savinho. Therefore, as matters stand, there is no immediate situation for Spurs to take advantage of, and despite Frank’s continued interest, Savinho looks set to remain at the Etihad Stadium.
