Trent Alexander-Arnold looked stunned after Real Madrid teammate Brahim Diaz's shocking missed penalty in the Africa Cup of Nations final.
Alexander-Arnold was appearing on a Twitch stream with one of his brothers when Brahim stepped up to try and steer Morocco to AFCON glory for the first time in 50 years. Morocco was awarded a penalty deep into stoppage time after it was adjudged that Brahim had been fouled in the box, but Senegal's manager and some players reacted by leaving the field in protest.
After a lengthy delay, the players returned to the field for Brahim to take the spot-kick, which he missed after his attempt at a Panenka penalty was easily saved by Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.
Alexander-Arnold was smiling as Brahim stepped up to take the penalty, but that smile instantly disappeared after the shocking miss as he stood up in disbelief and walked away from the camera.
His brother remained on screen with his hands over his mouth, also clearly shocked by what had just transpired.
Senegal went on to win the final after Villarreal midfielder Pape Gueye lashed the ball into the top corner at the beginning of extra time.
After the game, Alexander-Arnold's former Liverpool teammate, Sadio Mane, revealed that he disagreed with his Senegal teammates' decision to leave the field and claimed that he was the one who forced them to return.
"Yes, it was I who convinced the team to return to the field," Mane said.
"The players and the coach had decided to withdraw, and I didn’t understand that decision, but finally, I told everyone to return immediately and to play no matter the cost."
He added: "Football is something special, the world was watching, so we have to give a good image for football.
"I think it would be crazy to not play this game because what, the referee gave a penalty and we go out of the game?
"I think that would be the worst thing, especially in African football. I'd rather lose than this kind of thing happen to our football.
"I think it's really bad. Football should not stop for 10 minutes, but what can we do?
"We have to accept what we did, but the good thing is that we came back and we played the game and what happened happened."
