Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah has given his verdict on the defeat to Arsenal in the Carabao Cup semi-final
Trevoh Chalobah insisted it is "disappointing" Chelsea did not reach the Carabao Cup final, citing "final details in the attacking third" as the reason why the Blues could not progress past Arsenal.
Mikel Arteta’s side already carried a 3-2 advantage from the opening game at Stamford Bridge to north London and Chelsea could not find a way past a stubborn Gunners backline.
Liam Rosenior, who prior to Tuesday night had masterminded five consecutive wins, deployed five players across the backline to nullify Arsenal’s threat, and it worked until Kai Havertz scored the winner deep in stoppage time.
"It’s disappointing not to get to the final," Chalobah said. "It was a chance for us to get to another final and win another trophy, but it was just the final details in the attacking third.

"I thought there wasn’t much in the game, and we did really well to nullify them, especially in the first half. They had a chance at the end, but the boys did well – it was just the final details.
"We stuck to the game plan. We were pushing at the end, but it didn’t work out. We have to keep our heads up and not allow this to affect us and carry on our good form."
With Chelsea fifth in the Premier League, into the FA Cup fourth round and the last 16 of the Champions League, there's still plenty to play for. Chalobah, though, knows the Blues must learn from the two defeats at the hands of Arsenal.
"Arsenal didn’t create many chances, they didn’t really hurt us in that final part of the game, it was just the final details – finishing our attacks or getting shots off – that’s what we need to improve," the defender said.
"We needed to get more shots off, but it’s hard to break down Arsenal and their defence – it’s something we can learn from. We can keep our heads high and move on to the next."
