Two key Arsenal players miss training as Mikel Arteta given double injury boost

2 hours ago 1

Mikel Arteta will be delighted to have welcomed back both Benjamin White and Christian Norgaard to Arsenal training during the international break. However, there were still some frustrations as two key players were missing.

The international break has concluded, and the Gunners have welcomed back their senior team and integrated a brand-new signing. Sky Sports television cameras were at the Sobha Realty training centre and spotted Piero Hincapie, who could make his debut this weekend.

Equally, Christian Norgaard could finally make his official debut, too. The Dane missed the first three matches of the season with injury and was seen training with the group.

As was Benjamin White who suffered a problem at Old Trafford and has not been seen since. However, the full-back has now re-joined the group and will look to compete with Jurrien Timber for a spot in the team.

However, the frustration will be that both Bukayo Saka and William Saliba were not present. It is perhaps not surprising that the English winger is absent, as he continues rehabilitation from a hamstring injury.

However, William Saliba, who twisted his ankle in the warm-up before the clash with Liverpool and was unable to continue after a few minutes at the start of the game, is a real blow. It had been hoped the issue would not be too serious, but his chances of featuring this weekend appear to have taken a blow.

Mikel Arteta is due to face the press on Friday afternoon ahead of the game against Nottingham Forest. He will be quizzed on the status of the group and of others returning, perhaps later down the line, in the case of Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus.
