Just over one month to the day that Reece James lifted the FIFA Club World Cup trophy in New Jersey, Chelsea return to competitive action this afternoon. The Blues welcome Crystal Palace to Stamford Bridge in their first match of the 2025/26 Premier League season.
Enzo Maresca has the difficult challenge of trying to improve on what turned out to be a massively impressive debut campaign in charge of the west Londoners. In Palace, they face a stern test, with Oliver Glasner's side fresh off the back of beating Liverpool in the Community Shield last weekend.
However, Chelsea come into this one as big favourites. Another busy summer transfer window has handed Maresca more options to choose from - making it even more tricky to predict his line-up.
