Alasdair Gold has revealed that some senior Tottenham stars did not take part in the open training session in Hong Kong, while a couple of other players had injury scares during the session.

Tottenham will play the first-ever North London derby outside UK soil on Thursday, with the game to be played in front of a packed 50,000-capacity Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong.

On Tuesday, Thomas Frank’s men had an open training session in preparation for what is a big game for the Dane, being his first ever NLD in charge, even though it is only a pre-season friendly.

We already know that injuries have prevented Destiny Udogie and Kota Takai from travelling to Asia, with the pair recovering back at Hotspur Way alongside the other injured players: Radu Dragusin, Dejan Kulusevski and Bryan Gil.

Two more senior Tottenham players missed training on Tuesday

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold was at the Kai Tak Stadium watching the session, and he revealed that a couple of senior players did not take part in the small-sided game.

One of those was Dominic Solanke, who has a minor ankle injury which forced him to miss the pre-season friendly against Luton Town on Saturday.

The striker simply emerged at the end of the session to sign autographs, having not taken part in any of the drills.

Additionally, Gold reveals that Kevin Danso only did some individual work during the session after coming off at the hour mark in the draw at Kenilworth Road.

However, the journalist revealed that Rodrigo Bentancur, who missed Saturday’s friendly against Wycombe due to illness, did take part in the full session.

During the session, Pedro Porro received a strong tackle from Djed Spence, which left the Spaniard rolling on the ground in pain.

Gold has now confirmed that, although the former Sporting Lisbon man was limping for a while, he was moving freely after the end of the session.

The journalist reveals that Mathys Tel had an even bigger injury scare after receiving a knock on his knee during the session.

There was concern among his teammates as they gathered around the 20-year-old, who remained on the floor for a while. But thankfully, Gold reveals that the new Tottenham signing appeared to run it off and seemed to be moving fine.

It remains to be seen whether Kevin Danso and Dominic Solanke are included in the squad to face Arsenal on Thursday, while Pedro Porro and Mathys Tel should be fine to play.
