Liverpool saw a late penalty decision overturned as it was beaten for the second time in a week, losing to Galatasaray in the Champions League.
Arne Slot will have expected a response from his players following the weekend defeat to Crystal Palace but he hardly got one, as the Turkish side ran out deserved winners, thanks to Victor Osimhen's first half penalty.
Liverpool was the architect of its own downfall for the most part with some sloppy play but looked to have been given a lifeline when referee Clement Turpin pointed to the spot in added time after a challenge on Ibrahima Konate.
However, replays showed that Wilfried Singo connected with the ball and it was Konate who kicked him instead. The decision was ultimately overturned by VAR with UEFA explaining the decision on its official match center.
A post read: "VAR review complete. Decision overturned: no penalty. Galatasaray player, No. 90, played the ball in a fair manner before the contact between players."
More to follow.
