'Unacceptable' - Arne Slot told brutal truth as Anfield reaches breaking point

11 hours ago 36

A Liverpool fan yelled at Arne Slot to tell him that the Reds' performance against Crystal Palace was "absolutely unacceptable" as the team succumbed to another defeat.

Liverpool has now lost six times in its last seven games in all competitions, which represents a remarkable collapse after the team won seven games in a row at the start of the season. Palace has now had the better of Liverpool on three occasions this term, after winning the Community Shield on penalties and also kicking off Liverpool's losing run in the Premier League with a 2-1 victory at Selhurst Park at the end of September.

Former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock was on commentary duty for the Reds' loss to Palace, and revealed what he overheard a supporter shouting in Slot's direction during the game.

"Liverpool are trying to find solutions, fans will give Arne Slot quite a lot of time to find those solutions," Warnock said.

"However, people are very short-minded and they forget about what was so good last year.

"If they don't start to pick up results, people will start to get edgy.

"There was a guy behind us, and he was irate with the performance. He started screaming at Arne Slot, saying, 'Absolutely unacceptable - we are Liverpool.'"

The games don't get any easier for Liverpool leading into the international break, with an in-form Aston Villa visiting Anfield this weekend before games against Real Madrid and Manchester City.

Slot was asked in his post-game press conference whether his youthful team selection and the subsequent loss to Palace have put extra pressure on him and the team going into the game against Villa.

"I don't think it is possible if you lose six out of seven that there is even more pressure," he responded.

"If you are on a run of results like this, if you play for Liverpool, if you manage Liverpool, you know the pressure is there. I don't think it has changed much after this loss.

"But if it did, then maybe the most positive thing about tonight was the position we were in, 2-0 down, and we weren't really pushing for a goal because we weren't able to, the fans were behind the team and supporting us.

"That gives me the feeling, on Saturday, when our players will show how much it means to them, our fans will be incredibly supportive for us on Saturday.

"Again, we face a team that has rested in the week to play us, and that's Villa."
