Liverpool manager Arne Slot has indicated that the Reds don't have "unlimited money" ahead of the January transfer window.
The Merseyside club splashed out more than $500 million during the summer. High-profile signings such as Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike, and Florian Wirtz were brought in, along with Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, and Giovanni Leoni. However, this spending spree hasn't exactly paid dividends for Liverpool.
Slot's players have had a dismal season so far, suffering six defeats in their first 16 matches, which leaves them languishing in seventh place in the Premier League table. Speaking before Saturday's match against Tottenham, the Dutchman suggested that the upcoming January transfer window might be relatively quiet.

"You insiders know – and you are the only ones because the outside world only talks about our spending – what we have brought in (money) to spend.
"That is the way we work over here. You then have to accept that in certain games during a season, you are short of a right full-back. But we are still able to win. I fully believe in that way of working, by the way."
One potential addition that Liverpool could consider in the winter window is a new center-back. The Reds were on the verge of signing Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi in the summer, only for the Eagles to pull out of the deal at the last minute.

Liverpool's need for reinforcements has intensified, with Leoni and Joe Gomez grappling with injuries.
When quizzed about a potential defensive signing, Slot provided an insightful response.
He said: "The injury of Giovanni has quite a lot of impact.
"If you have four center-backs for the season, two right and two left backs, with Wata (Endo) and Ryan (Gravenberch) who can help you out, but then you have an ACL injury, that is not very helpful. It is tough.
"And unfortunately Joe (Gomez) is now out of the squad again tomorrow. In a season, these moments for most teams happen.
'Some teams have so many (options), but most other teams do not. This is our way of working at Liverpool."
With just a fortnight remaining to finalize their plans for the January transfer window, the clock is ticking for the Reds. The window swings open on January 1 and will remain so until February 2.
Prior to this, Slot's players will be eager to climb the league table, with fixtures against Tottenham, Wolves, and Leeds on the horizon.
