Amidst reports linking him with a return to the Premier League, former Tottenham striker Troy Parrott had an embarrassing moment on Sunday that he will want to forget quickly.
The 23-year-old’s heroics this season for club and country have got some Spurs fans to wonder if the Lilywhites made a mistake by letting him go last year.
The striker has scored 14 goals in 17 outings for AZ Alkmaar this term, but it was Parrott’s heroics for the Republic of Ireland in the World Cup qualifiers last month that cast him into the limelight
After he fired his nation to the World Cup play-offs, it has emerged that some Premier League clubs are showing interest in the former Spurs man ahead of the January window.

Spurs stand to benefit financially from any Parrott transfer, as the North London club hold a 20 per cent sell-on clause on their academy graduate.
However, Parrott did his prospects of a big move no favours with what he did on Sunday as AZ fell to a 1-0 defeat at FC Twente.
The away side had a golden opportunity to equalise in stoppage time when they were handed a penalty.
However, the Tottenham academy graduate went for a panenka, which went horribly wrong and sailed comfortably over the bar.
Should Spurs consider re-signing Parrott?
It has been reported over recent weeks that Tottenham are keen on adding a number nine to their squad in January.
The Lilywhites will be able to sign Parrott at a discounted price compared to other clubs, given their 20 per cent sell-on clause.
Given that Tottenham’s lack of homegrown numbers is well documented, the club may give serious thought to re-signing the 23-year-old.
